Description
I made this in my Media Design class. We had to design 112 images and use them to create a periodic table. I picked Cats
and therefore the name "The Purriodic Table Of Cats" came to be. This took me half the semester to finish and even then I
was pushing it at the end.
I used Photoshop and Illustrator. Mostly Illustrator but I used photoshop to edit my scans of my drawings that I used to
create the cat images. I took my cat images I drew and put a filter on them in photoshop and then took that image into
Illustrator and live traced it. It took me forever to finish probably because I'm a perfectionist, well at least i'm a perfectionist
about my art.
The concept that I was going for was that the images were supposed to look like they were in a biology book or some sort of
science book. That is why in my layout I have a big space in the middle because it was supposed to look like it was a two page
layout from a science book. Hence the page numbers at the top and the chapter numbers and the keys looking the way they do.
The information is what I did first. I looked up 112 different breeds of cats and then got the information to sort them all by.
Then I proceeded to get a photograph of each cat breed so I could have a variety of poses and when I drew them they didn't
look like they were all clone copies of one another.
All in all I am super excited about how this turned out. I love the color separating the different breeds, And my cute
flying cat image at the top. There are things I would have done differently but they are minor and thus useless to put on here.
I hope you enjoyed my rant about this project that took me half a semester to finish. I used CS5 you can se it better if you
download the image. It's a 20 x 30 so it looks smallish because of the awkward size, but if you download it you can see the
designs better...
